New student scholarship programme launched
University of Liverpool in America Inc. has announced the launch of a new scholarship and exchange programme and is asking alumni to pledge their support.
Over the next two weeks, student callers are telephoning alumni to ask them to make a donation to the programme, which will support Liverpool students from the United States and enable UK-based students to undertake a period of study in the US.
For many students, the opportunity to experience a Liverpool education would not be possible without a scholarship.
Current US postgraduate student Annette Smith (MA Research Methodology, Sociology & Social Policy) received funding from one of the University’s existing scholarship programmes.
She said: “I was delighted to hear that University of Liverpool in America Inc. was launching a scholarship and exchange programme,"
"My scholarship was life-changing as it allowed me to leave my home in Portland, Oregon, to undertake postgraduate study here in Liverpool. After graduating from a US university, I simply did not have the money to start a Masters programme but the scholarship made all the difference and gave me the opportunity to come to the UK."
Alumni are being asked to support the programme by making a gift in honour of what Liverpool means to them. To celebrate the launch, the Foundation has agreed to add $1 to every $3 donated by alumni, so this is the perfect time to give.
If you would like to make a donation, please contact Dr Lisa Hannah-Stewart, Annual Giving Manager, by calling +44 151 795 4638 or emailing lisa.hannah-stewart@liverpool.ac.uk.
