Graduate's news digest top of the bill

Sean Gallitz (MA Politics and Mass Media 2010)Customers at Washington DC’s bars and restaurants will be able to keep up-to-date with the capital’s latest news thanks to a bill-sized news digest produced by an innovative graduate.
Sean Gallitz (MA Politics and Mass Media 2010) has helped develop The Latest News, a news distribution start up company which produces a round-up of the latest headlines that prints out directly with your bill.

The news digest will be given to customers with the bill they receive at a number of bars and restaurants across the capital.
Originally from Wisconsin, Sean envisions the company making a real impact on those who enjoy following the news and staying up to date with current affairs in Washington DC and around the world.
He said: “The idea of The Latest News is to turn the network of restaurant receipt printers into a worldwide printing press for the news and advertising. The ability to give customers a small dose of the latest news headlines with their lunch or dinner can help raise awareness of current affairs and hopefully create a more engaged and well-informed society.”

Sean, whose passion for the relationship between politics and media was sparked by internships with NBC and on Capitol Hill, also produces a blog entitled Beltway Politiks, offering daily commentary on current affairs.

Having formerly worked as a Student Ambassador and as a student caller during the University’s telephone campaigns, he is now keen to support alumni relations activity in Washington DC and along the east coast.
