Improving research excellence

The University of Liverpool in America Inc will support research excellence focused on the advancement of knowledge at the University of Liverpool. Philanthropic support under this programme will empower the University's research leadership, academics and students to address some of the grand challenges we face as a global community in the 21st century.

One such project is the Centre for Personalised Medicine.

Centre for Personalised Medicine

The Centre for Personalised Medicine will provide the infrastructure to put Liverpool at the forefront of research in the field of pharmacogenetics, the branch of pharmacology which looks at the influence of genetic variation on drug responses in individuals.

Although there have been many recent advances in this field, only a few have been translated from the laboratory into patient care. New investment in the Centre for Personalised Medicine will allow Liverpool to tackle this problem by providing the evidence base that is necessary to revolutionise the way important illnesses are treated worldwide. Future fundraising priorities in this area are expected to focus on global health, environmental sustainability and urban regeneration.
