The Centre for Personalised Medicine will revolutionise the way serious illnesses are treated both in the UK and worldwide. The aim of personalised medicine, or pharmacogenetics, is to tailor medication to our individual genetic make up, ending the prescription drugs on the basis of ‘one dose fits all’.
Personalised Medicine allows the correct drug to be administered to a patient at the correct dose in order to achieve maximum benefit for the patient and minimal risk of side-effects. In recent years there have been many advances in the field but few have been translated from the lab into patient care. In Liverpool we aim to achieve this and to become a world-renowned centre for excellence.
