Centre for Better Births
This is a collaborative project which brings together the expertise of the Physiology Department at the University and the Liverpool Women’s, the largest hospital of it’s kind in Europe, to address an area of medicine where there have been no new innovations in over 50 years.
The project will create a Centre at the Women’s Hospital which will aim to address why pregnancies can be difficult and why labours can go wrong.
The Centre will aim to significantly reduce the numbers of caesarean sections and recurrent miscarriages and will bring together the expertise of doctors, midwives, health professionals and scientists to develop safe therapies to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes for women across the globe.
The Centre will attract the brightest researchers and as a national Centre of excellence will train the next generation of Uterine Physiologists and academics working in clinical practice.
